Memories of Powys
The Caravan Park Owned by Mr Pughe
In 1972 when my parents had a caravan on Mr Pughes site we had a Sprite Muskateer owned first by my grandad, Lesley Fellows and his wife Louise. I have very fond memories of the caravan site, and can still remember all the old caravans there.
Dinas Mawwdwy & Llanymawddwy Valley
My Grandparents went to this beautiful valley in the 1940's. Then for the rest of their lives. We are now a 3rd generation of friends with a family from the area.
This place in Wales is very dear to my heart I have been going there all my life it is a place I feel safe. My Grandparents took my mother, my mum took me & now I take my own kids, I love the area. It's like a comfy pair of slippers & I wish I could go there more often.
1966
Stayed here with my parents in August 1966 when it was a Christian Guest House.
If there had been a fire it would have been a death trap!!
An 18 Year Old Spanish Girl
I came to Abergynolwyn in 1962 to work at Tyny-Cornel Hotel with my brother Luis, we were very happy to work for Mr & Mrs Hunter. I'm 66 years old and I remember many times the town and my first love Gwylem Mumford, I think he became a doctor. I hope so because he was a very clever boy. Also I remember Olwen Davies, she was a chef at Tyny-Cornel. I would like to know about her. Love to all Abergynolwyn!
My First School
My dad was from yr Aber. We lived in Pandy Square until my dad died in Feb 1952, he was the fireman on the little train from Towyn to Abergynolwyn, he was also, I believe, a local football referee. He was an ex soldier in the Royal Welch Fusiliers, I was five years old when he died, I really don't know what effect his death had on my future life. I have vague recollections of school. My Nain live in the Aber until her death in 1967, my Aunty Annie lived in the council houses, her married name was Griffin, then Thomas
