Angus memories

Friends who lived in Greystone

My husband was in the Navy and we were stationed in Edzel from 1972 until 1975. We lived in Greystone in what was called 'The White House'. We had the greatest Scottish neighbours and I would so love to get in touch with them.   My children and grandchildren are coming to Scotland June 13, 2009. We are so excited about going... [more]

the weather

My parents, sister and I lived in Kinneff for a couple of years and I attended the little village school, Mr Hainings was the Head then. The weather was extreme, winters were full of snow and the lovely coal fire my mum to used to make, hours and hours were spent playing out in the summer, I remember one year when... [more]

Strawberries

My family came from Wellbank and every summer we would go there from Durham to help my Uncle Jim at Buckleshead, to pick stawberries and raspberries ready to go from there in wooden barrels to the jam factory at Dundee. My memories are good ones from these days and I will visit again to have a look round and do a... [more]

Growing up

I grew up in Monifieth and for the first 17 years of my life this is where I called home. I remember attending Invertay Annexe for 2 years. As it turned out both my sister and I were taught by the same teachers that had taught my father. My grandfather was the janitor at Invertay Primary School and... [more]

I was living with my Grandmother on Princess Street, where I was born, I was sent back to Dundee in 1944 because of the VE... [more]

Meeting Place

Seeing this brings back memories of many happy meetings. In my day the foot of Reform St was the place where all of Dundee's friends and lovers seemed to meet. Late at night the fish and chip stand on Boots the Chemists corner was also a popular place to meet. Many a happy Saturday was spent walking down the near by... [more]

DRI

I did my SRN at the DRI. Seeing the photo of the Castle brings back happy memories. My husband and I spent many happy hours in the grounds surrounding the Castle. On my last visit to Dundee the housing complex in the grounds of the old DRI were not yet finished but one of the Turrets was still standing. I wonder... [more]

Dudhope Park by the Castle

My name then was Watson.  I used to live in Dudhope Crescent Road, which was opposite a small grave yard by Bell St, sadly no longer there.  My granny used to take to roll my easter egg down the hill near the swings.  In those days the castle did'nt look like this,  peacocks were in cages there.  You got a lovely...
