Tony Bros Ice Cream

I worked in the Tony Bros Ice Cream factory as a school holiday job in 1967 or 68. I vividly remember Tony Tedeschi, who chain smoked Benson and Hedges, Derek the gentle giant who took me under his wing and the lovely Yolande. It was hard work, but good fun and it's a shame it's all gone now. We definitely made the best choc ices in the area.

RE: RE: Tony Bros Ice Cream

Hi Hugh

My name is Michael Tedeschi and I am the son of Tony & Joe Tedeschi who founder Tony Bros.
Tony my father did not smoke B & H but cigars but my uncle Luigi, or Gino as many people called him, certainly did and he was always at the factory whereas Dad and Uncle would always be at the shop or somewhere in between.
I always worked in the factory in the holidays and normally used to look after the bagging machine for the lollies which was a job no-one wanted. In 1967 I was 16 years old and I cannot recall you but I am sure that if I saw a photo I would!!
I remember Derek with affection: he was a simple lad but very funny!
Nice to come across someone who remembers the good old days!

Hi this is Peter (Chandu) Chotai. Michael, I've always wondered where you went after Tony Bros?? How are you my friend? The last time I saw you was in 1984! I'm still in the UK living in Southall. Are you still in the UK?

My brothers and I always talk about the good old days at the Tony Bros factory. We still think about you and your family.

If you're around I would really to catch up!

Take care my friend.

Regards,
Peter (Chandulal) Chotai.

RE: RE: Tony Bros Ice Cream

Hi Michael, wonderful days that I still remember from around 1961 when your lovely mother chastised me for my sticking my fingers up to you as I drove out of the Ice Cream Factory one day when you were about 12. And you told on me?? And the happy days when we loaded up with the toffee apples in the winter to help sales. I remember your wonderful father very well and Joe, and the cars, the Rover, the Humber Super Snipe and when I visited you in 1980. You were exporting Ice Cream around the world. Well done Michael. Your father and your uncle were the best employers I ever had in my entire life. They, all of you, made people happy. Larry, in Australia....Tony Bros, When only the best will do....
