Station Road
I couldn't believe when I came across this picture. In 1950 I was born just above the shop (the first blind on the left). The shop was Reliant Shoe Repairs owned by my late father Arthur Piggott who was very well known in Addlestone. The single story building next to it was Mrs Martins Cafe, and me and my brother Bernard had many a cup of tea there. We lived in Addlestone until the end of 1965 then moved to Farnborough Hampshire.
The family now live in many parts of the world now. My two sisters (Janet and Barbara) live in Canada, my younger brother Bernard emigrated to New Zealand (but now lives in The Philipines and sadly my parents and youngest brother have past away.
As for me, I live and work in Tbilisi, Georgia and apart from the odd Russian invasion is quite peaceful. Georgia in many ways is like England in the 1950's which I guess is why I like it here.

RE: RE: Station Road
I was born in 1940 on the other side of road at 72a over Bestons shop printers. How it's changed, the Co-op gone, Tesco taken over, the fish and chip shop few doors along from you is still there. The bus garage is now gone, there are houses and Iceland there now.

RE: RE: Station Road
I lived in New Haw Road from 1957 till 1967 (aged 5 to 15). I see they've built The Addlestone Community Centre at the Station Road end of Garfield Road. I don't know how long that's been there. It must have been built after we moved from New Haw Road in 1967. Also, since building that massive Tesco where the Co-op used to be they've put a mini roundabout at the Tesco entrance on Station Road. I see Boots the chemist has gone. That's Lloyds Pharmacy now. That huge office block opposite what used to be 'The Dukes Head' where 'Bouder and Wiltshire' upholsters once stood on the corner looks totally out of character with the surrounding buildings in Station Road and The High Street to my mind. I can remember Station Road in 1960 before it was developed. My Mum used to feed a pony in a field where The Runnymead Council Offices are now. Garfield Road didn't exist then. It was all scrub land from Station Road right over to Crockford Park Road.
