Swans Row
I was born on Swans Row, also known as Berryford Place. I would love to go back there, I know the M1 runs through it now but the back roads are still there. I need to know how to get there now, I now live in Manchester, hope someone can help me find my birth place.

RE: RE: Swans Row
Hello Patrick, from Manchester you need M1 junction 28, take A38 Mansfield then 2nd slip road off Mcarthur Glen retail park (about 500 yard from junct 28). At roundabout straightover for Swanns Row (down past South Normanton Lodge home for the elderly). If you walk to the end 2 houses and take the footpath down the side I'm told you can still see the outline of where some of the houses once stood. My grandparents once lived in Swanns Row around 1902/1910. Hope this helps.

M1 junction 28 then the A38 second slip road past the home for the elderly, cannot miss it, my grandparents lived there at number 1, the first you come to. At the end are two houses that used to belong the Cartwrights. The old mine was somewhere behind the row. My wife's family built the row, their name was Swann, hence the term Swans Row.

RE: RE: Swans Row
I was born on Swans Row in 1938, next to the shop. Later moved to number 21. The houses numbered 16 to 38, then there was Cartwright Lane, about 8 houses. I moved to in South Nornanton about 1965 and am still there. email frankh2012@yahoo.co.uk ps There are only 2 houses left standing, one was the shop.
