Grangemouth
My father Charles Randalls was born to Margaret and Charles Randalls on 18 April 1917 and grew up in Grangemouth. His father Charles worked in the soap works and his grandfather , also Charles, was a pilot on the canal. Charles went to Edinburgh Universty at 16 at was in WW11 serving in France,Italy and Ireland. He was a psychologist for the "War Office Selection Board". He had diptheria after uni and while he was an Inspector with National Insurance (before the war) and went to Camelin hospital where he met my mother Betty Scott who nursed him back to health. he had a very successful career in DHSS ending in Newcastle as Head of Uk Pensions with 1400 staff. He talked of Spring Heel Jake in the Close. He swam a lot and played football. I think he lived in Lumley Street. Mobby
I live in South Alloa and my mother did too, and she still does. My mother told me about a whale that came up the Forth near South Alloa, many people came to see this whale and many came to help move it back into the sea. After they moved it back into the sea it came back to where it was again, and soon everyone knew the whale had come to rest in peace and die, so they called it Mobby, but I do not know why they called it Mobby.
Trip to Alloa
My ancestors were from Alloa and surrounding areas. They lived there for many years, back to the 1600s. I was finally able to visit Alloa this June after years of waiting. It was a beautiful summer morning and so green. The people were friendly to us. The feeling of it will be cherished in my heart, for so many of my people were born and raised there and worked so hard before coming to America in the 1870s. It was fun to eat the food, smell the freshness, and see the cattle and sheep. The mountains were beautiful, and the houses charming. Age will not allow me to come again, but I will remember forever.
Eastersheardale
I live in Eastersheardale Cottages and I have done for a year now. I was wondering if anyone has any photos or memories of the cottages, who stayed in them, and were there any more houses around the area. I would be most grateful for information. Caroline Savoy
Miners
seems likea "million" years ago, but I was ( 6 yrs ) old and remember at holiday fridays,standing with a few other kids outside the pit-baths at the devon pit, asking miners if we could take their bags "pit clothes" home for them, and get a tip...
thrupenny bit, was a lot back then.
When we Were Kids
When we were kids in Fishcross we used to go fishing most weekends, play in the woods, go to the Dam, climb and fish the Ochill Hills, Tooks Pond for eggs, go to the pictures etc. I knocked about with Charlie and John Bradley, Big Jack Bolton, Breck's Bolton, John and Sammy Mcmillan, Jerry Fitzpatrick etc. The people I remember for a laugh were William Joseph Hunter (Cocky Joe) who used to put the coal in the houses for something to eat. And Willie (the Gut ) who rode around Alloa on his bike doing wheelies.
We had some great times - memories never to be forgotten.

Bicycle Accidents Near Fishcross
Has there ever been any serious Bicycle accidents near Collyland Road? I overtook a cyclist as I was approaching Fishcross from Tullibody as I passed the Cyclist I looked over my shoulder too see if it was safe for me to pull in but there was no Cyclist there? I was thinking I've seen a ghost of a cyclist? Anyone help?
