I had heard so much about this village & surrounding areas from my father, Arch Wallbank, who was born 1896 @ 46 Watling St. the corner of New st. he left for NZ in Oct. 1913 & died Auckland 1965.. My Knight relations had lived in this house (butchers) & a Methodist Lay preacher..James Knight. My Wallbank grandpa drew this cottage in many autograph books & sketched a framed one in ...see more
My husband, Terry Norman, was born in Polesworth and stayed there until he joined the army, then he moved away, never to return. He has a lot of good memories of Polesworth, but we have now settled in Norfolk and are very happy.
Does anyone have any information about John Guy who lived in Little Jims Cottage in the early 1960's? John was my fathers cousin and I understand that he was a musician.
I have found over the past few weeks that nearly all my relatives from my fathers side began in Polesworth. There was James Scarratt Clifford 1780 married Sarah Bullows in 1803, my ggg grandmother was Caroline Clifford who gave birth in Poleswoth to John Ordish Clifford (he saddled me with the second name Ordish, this I am trying to find out why?) who was a policeman (inspector retired) in 1850 in London. ...see more
