This view of the village's main road was taken looking east. It had long since replaced the Old Road which branched off left behind the photographer and forded the river at one point. The terraced houses carry the information that they were built in the late 1880s. Only the sash windows seem to have changed.

That's a picture of Fox's Shop bottom of Uttoxeter Road Handsacre ,With Crown Pub next door,Spent many hours waiting outside for Jack Carneys bus to take us to school at Aelfgar in Rugeley in the sixties.
Hi there, some of you may know me or my family, at the top end of Pike Lane, or 'Havens Hill' as it was called. Does anyone remember the fish and chip shop and the coal yard in that lane by the way? My memories are of :- Helping Mom and Dad with our suitcases down to the station on the annual holiday and calling at Johnsons newsagent in that little shop on the left. Does anyone remember 'Mr. Riddley' the cobbler? ...see more
