I have only just found this site and am fascinated. I was born at 81 New Road a long time ago, in 1933. My parents had the Newsagents shop, which actually belonged to my grandmother whose husband was the Station Master at Armitage from about 1903 to about 1935. Jack Ridley first of all lived next door to us but then had his house built opposite. His tomatoes were legendary and are still the standard by which all home grown tomatoes are judged.. I married Peter Campbell whose mother lived on The Green, in July 1956 and we have just celebrated our 60th Anniversary. Would love to hear from other Armitagians and if anyone knows the whereabouts of June Elizabeth Scott born May 31st 1933, only daughter of Stanley and Norah Scott, who lived T 79 New Road all through the war.
