The village had its own mill, Ascott Mill, at one time; Langley Mill, shown here, was outside the village, nudging the Shipton-under- Wychwood border - the River Evenlode marks the parish boundary. Although Langley is now a private residence, the mill machinery was dismantled and used for its original purpose elsewhere.

A few years ago my brother and I visited Ascott-under-Wychwood. My father's family, surname "Venville", lived there for a very long time.
