RE: RE: Clarendon Road School
Hi Debbie, Rhere is a book you can buy in Ashford Library which has a photo of the outside and a very clear 1900-odd inside photo, I will find out the name and post it here. I remember going in there when it was derelict in the 1980s, I can still remember the Victorian architecture and the red stock brick it was built from. Can you remember the Head Mistress, Miss Taylor?

RE: RE: Clarendon Road School
Hi, I was a pupil at Clarendon Road School from 1966 to 1969, my first teacher was Miss Payne, she wore very bright clothes which I guess was the fashion then. I remember cutting my knee and Mrs Bourn the school nurse being very kind to me. The Headmistress was Mrs Roffy. Other teachers I remember were Miss Ashford, Miss Grant, Miss Foster, Miss Weir. Also the caretaker, who I'm sure was Mr Edney. We used to go into his shed which was always warm in the winter and had a strange smell, probably the wood burner. Happy days.

Debbie - no photograph alas. I was at Clarendon Road School 1945-1947. I walked every day there and back on my own from Thetford Road right at the other end of Ashford. Mr Brooks was caretaker and every day we got a tin mug of milk from a churn. I tried to send an email to Debbie to ask when she attended and if she still lived locally, but it would not send. I had logged inm has anybody got any idea why or what I have done wrong. Beginner at laptops. Frank. l. Green

Lovely to read the above. Thank you. I was a pupil from 1965. I am now in a relationship with another ex pupil. Took forty five years to catch up but got there in the end. I'm now living in Somerset.
