St Mary's Church stands overlooking the old village green; it once served a parish that included the then small hamlet of Congleton nearby. Notice that the spire is detached from the main body of the church. There is a yew tree in the churchyard that is thought to be one of the oldest in Britain - a claim, it has to be said, that is made by many churchyard yews.
