This is a view which I know very well as it is taken from Hardgate School playground - the school that I attended from 1939 to 1946. It is not a memory but the knowledge that my family lived in Gatehouse of Fleet from 1783 to 1880. My great great grandfather was the innkeeper of the Crown and Thistle in Fleet Street, Gatehouse of Fleet. It may be the Ship Inn now, I am not certain.
