Penny Train
My Great Uncle Bill looked after me occasionally and used to take me to a shop in the high street where I watched a train go round for a penny. My Grandparents lived just opposite us in Old Devonshire Road. This is my only memory of Balham as we moved soon after.

RE: RE: Penny Train
Where in Balham High Street was the penny train? You've jogged my memory and I remember it well but not the location.
I lived in Cavendish Road.

RE: RE: Penny Train
I believe it was in the High Street and it may have been a tobacconist, as my (Great) Uncle Bill used to roll Golden Virginia. I lived at no 14, Old Devonshire Road. Last time I was in Balham I took a look at the house (I only have photos). The brick wall in the front was still there and I kow my father built this.
All the best Fran
