RE: RE: Old Shops
My mouth was watering at the memory of those pies that you have mentioned Sandra. You could smell the pies as you walked along Runcorn Rd. The butchers was Peter Walkers, and the pies were outstanding. We used to order meat and potato pies every Wednesday, and my Nan would sometimes have a steak pie as a change. I remember too that she would send me there for flitch bacon.
My Mum used to work in Devonports shop many years ago. They were green grocers. The Devonport family still own the building, although it is no longer a grocers.
Does anyone remember Mrs Green's shop at the top of the hill? She used to sell cotton, wool and buttons.

Hi my grandfather was Derek Isherwood. I'm wondering if anyone knew/remembers him. I think he was the chairman of the British Legion. My mum was called Susan Isherwood, she died at the age of 48, 7 years ago, it would be great if anyone could share any stories, or thoughts. Zoe
