RE: RE: I Lived at Nells Point

Hello, I remember an Angela Perrin up at the Coastguard station and a Mrs Perrin who was very nice to my mother when we lived there. I have photos of us all at the beach. The steps up to the coastguard house were worn from use.  Had tea there and remember a lovely picture on the wall.

RE: RE: I Lived at Nells Point

Thankyou to Deirdre Flynn for your memory. The year that I was at Nells Point was during the war. The signal station was about three stories high, navy on the top then the marines and bottom the army. I used to take my father's can of tea up to him after school when he gave the signal. The names that I remember were, Barbara and John Chair, Mr May, and ourselves, PO Nurse, our dad, sister Margaret and me. Do you remember the prisoners of war at the bottom of the station?

RE: RE: I Lived at Nells Point

Hello. I am interested in researching the life and times in post war Barry Island. Does anyone have any information / details of families who squatted in the army huts when the war ended please. If so , I would love to hear from you.

RE: RE: I Lived at Nell's Point

I lived in the old Army huts from 1953 - 56 ... we weren't squatters we paid rent to the Council. I was friendly with a girl who lived at Nell's Point, but I can't remember her name. She had a playhouse in the garden. Our time at the camp (Forest Drive) was great, We had the run of Jackson's Bay, Whitmore Bay, the fields with the horses and the Fairground, which we played in, in Winter, going up the helter skelter and pushing the rides around, etc. Lorraine (Davies )
