Merry Lane runs for a mile along the Brue from Bason Bridge to Cripp's Farm, providing easy access for fishermen. There is good coarse fishing here, and the area around the old dairy factory is noted for its carp. Club competitions are held, except during the close season in spring months.

My husband and I had many a happy day fishing in Merry Lane. Well, he fished and I read a book! We stayed in a caravan in the field at the last farm down the end of Merry Lane.
