A Memory of Batley Carr.
I was born in 1954 and I lived in Batley Carr with my mum, Brenda (nee Charlesworth) and my dad, Tommy and younger brother, Kevin.
At first we lived in Holgate's Yard, off Milton Street (The Irish Fold) and then maybe a couple of years later to 100 Town Street, Batley Carr, Dewsbury. Our house was next to Walter Greenwood's butchers shop (who I think owned our property). We left the area, because of the "slum clearance" in December 1964.
I attended Warwick Road school from 1959-1965. Mr Lodge was the headmaster. I remember My Kaye, Mr Smart (?) and Mr Lancaster, who later went to Cliffe House. Some of the lads there I am now Facebook friends with and have not seen since 1964.
If you would like my email address, please ask. On Facebook I am Ian Sewell - a picture of a guy with glasses!
