Memories... Memories...

A Memory of Bayston Hill.

We moved to Bayston Hill ( shrewsbury) around 1990... A beautiful leafy lane .. Grove Lane... no. 8..
We had our dog.. ( Biko) and soon got settled.. our neighbours were; no. 6 were Bunny and Barbara Hancock... amazing friendly people.. a little older than us.. and terrific gardeners.. their front and back garden was lovely ..Barbara x. Bunny had lived there with family for most of their married life...Our house was semi-detached ,, built over 100 yrs ago;by 2 brothers....

In a little cottage right in the corner tucked away was no. 10 Grove land. originally had a straw roof? and i think pigs were kept in the garden..( at one point.. long time ago)
Arthur Foster lived there with his family .. wife.; Alison and John.. Arthur was a keen veg and fruit grower... and through the years we sampled quite a lot of this;;Arthur was very generous.. and a good neighbour..( he died in Cornwall in Sept. 2014) Sadly Bunny died this yr.. 2015.. not many months after..great friends..
There were lots of really nice neighbours living here in this lovely lane..Most have passed now...
Badgers visited often in our gardens... and brought their little ones... we fed them on Peanut Butter sandwiches..every night. They used our garden ( by a fir tree) as their Latrine!!!

We lived there many yrs.. I worked at the local school .. on the dinners... so did Barbara.. met some nice ladies/children too.. happy times..
Soon i was offered job in local garden centre... Baileys coffee shop.. stayed there 3 yrs.. met some fab girls... good times.. then went on to Shelton Hospital worked bank.. on most of the wards... really enjoyed the friendship of other nurses.. staff/and patients..
Eventually getting older i got cancer and we both decided to move back to Yorkshire./but settled for 10 yrs in Lincs..... .Now been back in Doncaster 3 yrs...
My hubby Rob worked as a Social Worker all of the time we lived in Shropshire... We were very happy there..
Wonderful area... lots of countryside to see.. .. Trish (pat and Rob Downing....
