My grandparents lived in the last house in pattle their name was vickers i used to visit as a child during the 1960 's grandad was a regular at the Knapp inn. My uncle Ernie and Cyril Vickers rented on old mill since demolished . Paul Vickers shropshire.
I don't have a memory as such, but a lot of my family were born and bred in Beaminster, which I had a very brief visit to in 2009, I found it a very nice little village and would loved to have been able to stay longer and trace some of my family haunts and maybe been able to have come across people who would have been related to folk of that era, maybe they could have told me something of past times there and maybe my ...see more
My folks live in Beaminster, and I also did in the early 1980s, and remember Furze Lane. The lane goes up from the Bridport Road across country to the Posy Tree at Mapperton. Although it has changed now, i.e. widened, as it is now suitable for vehicles, I think that the building on the left could be the farm buildings at the bottom of the lane.
