Hi there, I am looking for anyone that knew my sister, she was born Marion Adair and lived in Holytown with my gran (also Marion). My mother Mary Adair married Alex Anderson who had an ice cream van and worked all over Bellshill and Holytown area. She left Bellshill and married (in Slough) James Underwood, also from Holytown area. Any informaton regarding Marion or my family would be great. Janet
Old New Stevenston And Surrounding Villages.....
Iam pleased to have found this website. I lived in New Stevenston for over 50 years and share my memories on Friends Reunited Site...after opening up a group named New Stevenston Born and Bred 50s, 60s and 70s. It also covers surrounding areas. We also hold a lot of photos from down memory lane of villages, schools and landmarks.
Great Laughs at Taylor High
Great times at Taylor High with Mick Logan, Kev Hastings and Mark O'hara etc.. I remember the time I went up on the flats (across from Taylor High) and got a big chunk of wet moss from a drain. I waited for Mick Logan to pass, then shouted his name, he looked up - then bingo! I let the moss go.. direct hit, right slap bang on the coupon, what a shot - laughed for weeks after it!! He took it in good fun though, and that's what mates do. I live in Ireland now, and I'll never forget where I came from.
The 1950s
Hi all, I used to live on Easter Moffet golf course and attended Motherwell central school, my father was the club master in the early 1950s (Jack Potter). I used to go fishing down on the River Clyde between Motherwell and Hamilton near the Hamilton Mausoleum. I also fished in the Strathclyde Loch, I don't think it was called that when I was young. I also belonged to the Motherwell Scouts in Airbles Street near the bing on the left side going down the road. As I got older I fished more up the river near Muirhouse Towers area which was all woods in them days. I will post more memories as I remember them.

Early Days in Uddingston
I lived with my parents and grandparents in an upstairs flat 8 Clutha Place,101 1/2, (yes one hundred and one and a half!!) Old Mill Road, Uddingston until I was about two and a half. I remember watching the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on a black and white TV in the home of one of the downstairs neighbours who I think was called Mrs Brown. The year was 1953 and she was the only person we knew with a TV set at that time. We, along with several other neighbours, were invited to crowd into Mrs Brown's flat to watch the spectacle I remember having a little gold coloured replica of the Coronation Coach to mark the occasion. After living in Holytown and then Bothwell, our family returned to Uddingston around 1961 to a house in Holmbrae Avenue. My parents remained there until 2004.
