Bourne Road Bexley
The building with pointed roof, left of centre of the pic is Bexley Library. On the right I remember the first building as a stationery shop and further into the photo on the right would be the Post Office. On the left, just out of pic, was as newsagent called 'Rivers'. This later became Martins and currently 'Golden News.' I remember 'Rivers' as being one of the few stockists of American DC Comics in the 1970s on a spinner franchised by Thorpe and Porter, who imported comics from USA.
The Pub
i can remember being paid 1p for every empty glass i collected from this pub just out of shot on the left back in the 1970's.
Also the toy shop and chip shop just round the bend on this picture.

The Old Mill
I remember The Old Mill from 1975, it seems a long time to me. My then husband and I were assistant managers for what was then Schooner Inns Steak Houses. We worked there about 8 months just after we were married, our living quarters were on the top floor, along with others such as the chef, we only had the one room, but we worked so hard, we hardly spent any time in there. The steak house then was very busy espcially Saturday nights and Sundays. I remember it was so quirky up and down different levels and the river running right through the middle. Good memories. Our name then was Werner and Judith Wisniewski. As if anyone remembers us?
Kent memories
Rowing on The Lake
Unfortunately vague memories of my sister and I rowing on the lake at Danson park, that's really all I can recall at this stage.
My Childhood
I moved to Pickford Close (the turning halfway up in this photo) in January 1953 as a 5 yr old. I remember the sweet shop and gracious me the bus stop is still in the same place. It is strange to see just one small car compared to nowadays when it is a nightmare trying to park at all. I had a paper round with Mac's which was a papershop on the opposite corder to Lewis's.
The Good Old Days
In the mid 1950's I used to work as a young school boy on a Saturday morning for the butcher ( I think his surname was Finch) just out of shot on the extreme left of the picture. I used to ride a delivery bicycle, small wheel at the front with a large wicker basket. The photographer had his back to the Co-op and once/twice a year you went to the room above the shop to exchange your tin "divi" coins. Also a school chum lived in Pickford Close by the surname of Rawlings and I remember making a miniture seesaw for his pet mouse. He still owes me for it! I also remember cycling from Brampton Road (the cul-de-sac opposite the goods yard which I believe is no longer there) to the Co-op on my brand new bicycle on an errand for my mother then walked back home only to relise where I had left my bicycle.
