Lydia And Wendy
I worked in the big hotel in Sandown, and a couple of hotels on the very seafront with two girls from Binstead, what fun we had, laughter and tears went together. I've lost touch with them but would love to hear what they are up to now and where they live. I remember Browns boating lake in Sandown, and one of the hotel managers on the front named Ken, and Itl the chipl who worked in the kitchen. The stadd were a very happy lot, Lydia and Wendy were very good friends to me, Wendy's mother worked in a shoe shop in Ryde, they lived opposite each other in a close at Binstead in council houses. I also took holidays at Brambles Chine Holiday Camp when I was very young, and remember the rambles across the downs and walking to Freshwater, they were such happy carefree days. I've always thought what a pretty place the Isle of Wight is, also visits to Osbourne House. So please, Wendy and Lydia, if you read this get in touch with me, I have lived in Malta 21 years now, by the sea in St Pauls Bay. The name of the big hotel in Sandown where we all met was called the Sandringham.

RE: RE: Lydia And Wendy
Hi, I have a terrible memory, but I think we all worked together at the Sandringham & Balcony Hotel (I think that was the name). And we used to spend the days on the beech and the nights in the pubs!
My email is wlwryde@live.co.uk.
Would love to hear from you
Kind regards
Wendy
PS I tried to post a comment to you but couldn't

RE: RE: Lydia And Wendy
Hi, it's me again Wendy, do you remember Lil the chip in the kitchen of Ken's hotel, and that old lady Betty, she must have passed on by now. What about that day when old Mrs Spriker was rocking in her rocking chair and called us all to the office, she said "Chambermaids my dear are two a penny" and I said "Well well well you had better get yourself a shillingsworth", and we left by the back stairs, you and Lydia said "We can't go home with no job", I said "What about me, what am I going to do"? Then I said "Follow me and we will ask every hotel along the fron". First one we were unlucky, then at Ken's he said "I need two chambermaids and a waitress". Oh Wendy I'd never done waitressing in my life, so I said "You two had better be together and I'll have to see how I can manage it ha ha", I remember working there and running across a carpark of a night to start another job in another place to earn some more money but couldn't keep it up. Do you remember Sheila, I worked in the Balcony Hotel with her waitressing, she was a kind woman, remember when I came out of hospital, she took me home with her then after a week or so I went back home. I'll never know what happened to that John who I got the job for down at Browns boating lake. Wendy, are you married, any children? Where do you live now? And what has happened to Lydia? I'm on facebook, Pat Saliba, and my email address is: patsaliba@onvol.net Please get in touch Pat xxxxx

Hi Wendy, dont tell me I've found you after searching for you all these years. I'm over the moon if it's you, what happened to Lydia? My God what days they were, ha ha ha, old Lil the chip, remember Eileen who wanted to have thinner legs? I remember your mum like yesterday. What about the time I had to go and stay up on the cliffs at Ken's house and the night at the disco on the corner down the front, when I couldn't get out, then you used to go out with a Billy Blundell, he had a Jaguar if I remember right. Anyway, here I am in Malta. My daughter has a thriving watersports here. What's happened to you? I could write a book, I was looking on facebook for you, no luck, didn't know your last name or Lydia's. My name on facebook is Pat Saliba, have a look and you can see all the pics. Oh Wendy I can't believe after all these years, please keep in touch so much to tell you xxxxxxx

Hi Wendy what has happened to Lydia? Is she still on the island? And what do you do there now? I know it was ages ago but I've never forgotten both of you, we had fun in between having to work etc. I wonder what happened to the girl called Irene, she was in Ken's hotel with us along the front and all the guys from London, Baz, Steve Vidal, I can't remember the names of any others. I rememnber a Billy Blundell you liked at the time, he had a Jaguar car. I loved the island, I wish I could have lived there, instead I'm out here in Malta, which is like Disneyland at times, but I am going home for Chirstmas and staying with a friend. My daughter Joanne has two watersports companies over here. I am on facebook under the name patsaliba, have a look, you will see lots of pics, some very old, some new. Take care and let me know what happened to the two of you and try and write on here again xxxx
