Went through the tunnel when I was about 8 or 9 with my Dad when he was driving trucks (sorry lorries)for Roebuck's in Heswall, we would be driving through with the window down, great fun with all the diferent sounds and smells, until he told me to close it.

RE: RE: Tunnel Vision

i now live in Perth, West Australia, but prior to emigrating in 1977 I repaired trucks, sorry lorries, at Darlington's transport in Heswall for 6 years and enjoyed every day of it. I returned to the UK between Oct 1980 and May 1981 where I worked at Roebucks in Heswall driving a truck until returning to Perth. I returned on holiday a few years later only to find Roebucks yard has disappeared and a pub now stands on the yard where Roebucks had operated since I can ever remember.

RE: RE: Tunnel Vision

My Dad drove for Roebucks for 26 years and as a kid I would travel all over the country hauling heavy plant, life boats, cranes, tanks and just about anything else you can think of. In school holidays from the age of about 9 I drove the stacker truck on the yard, painted trailers and jet washed the trucks. The health and safety poeple would go mad these days. great times!
