Blackwater, which shares its name with that of the river, lies just to the south of the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. On the right is the Red Lion and next to it are the premises of a baker and confectioner. Note the water trough for horses.

My then boyfriend told me to take the throttle of his 650 Triumph Bonneville - putting eye makeup onat the time I believe - said I’ll have the clutch
. When I say open her up just let her go - so I did! We went over the Blackwater Bridge at ??? Mph. All at the Manor were gobsmacked! Thought we wouldn’t stop in time. But we did - just. I so loved those days.

I am not from Blackwater but my great, great Grandfather, John Cranham bought Harthover House in 1854 and lived there with his family for a few years..He was a builder.. i would love to hear from anyone who knew of the family..
My memory of Blackwater started when I was 14, for those of you who don't know what the Old Manor was, it was a transport cafe, which stood on what is now a supermarket site, on the right, at the junction with Rosemary Lane. In the late 1950s it consisted of coach seats to sit on, and single light bulbs, but in the early 1960s a man called Don Lewis spent a lot of money improving things, and brought it up to date. ...see more

If you know about this place please add your history, I live in Beech Drive which is in the grounds of old Park House, A30, we understand it had tennis courts and a drive from the A30, its boundery is with the Frogmore Park estate and a large house at the corner of A30-Rosemary Lane, more later.
