A Memory of Blaenllechau.

born in sunny blaen in 1954 growing up in the village was and always will be the highlight of my childhood so many good people i remember playing in the Glyn with Kevin hughes slapperers around blaen sports day up in the field by the two walls going up to sids farm for sacks for the sack race sports day on blaen football field harvest feistival in Carmel chapel houses both sides of commercial street blod reynolds viva barnes mr edwards the mayor mr barkway cooking the christmas turkeys for the people in blaen old macormick coming down from Darwonno farm on his horse and cart to buy his groceries Hilda and Ernie Hughes the shop commercial street the assarati,s in the fish shop howell livingstone with his false leg in the general store dai the oil in club row dougie the shop joe jeep the shop in princess street morgan the parky the best looked after park in the valleys where you could go and buy some flowers cut by morgan from the garden also will gardiner who looked after the park i remember going around the houses selling mint from my aunties garden at thruppence a bunch the water coming down from the mountain behind the houses in club row in the back door and out the front poor jack williams next door my father had to go in and sit him on the wooden table his legs dangling in the water which was about 2 feet deep wonderful people i remember living in blaen idris and rosie evans harry and dilys harvey mr and mrs williams next door in number15 i could name at one time everyone that lived in club row so many more memories so many lovely people there will only ever be one blaenllechau for me
