Blakeney My "Home"
A Memory of Blakeney.
I came to live in Blakeney at the age of approximately 5 prior to this I lived at Roxborough House in Stroud - I lived in a Childrens Home named "Meadoway" along with my 2 brothers and 4 sisters - we all belonged to the All Saints Church Choir at varying stages in our lives - the best place to play was called "the Butts" - wonderful memories of "long hot summers" and some mighty cold winters ie 1963? when it snowed and snowed and we could not go to school in Lydney for many weeks! - Myself and some of my brothers and sisters joined the Blakeney Brass Band and during the summer visited many local public houses on a Sunday afternoon playing (well I cant say that I played my cornet very well as I couldn't really read music! but all the same - enjoyed the adventure) - also belonged to St Johns Ambulance club which I attended at the Junior school (Mrs Buck was the leader I think) - also attended the Youth Club and learnt to play table tennis quite well - lots of other memories will surely come but I finally left Blakeney to live and work in Gloucester at the tender of age of just 16 yrs old
