Gilgal

A Memory of Bodedern.

I was born and raised in Bron Y Graig and remember most of the names you mention. I don't remember Mr Jones as headmaster but I do recall Mr Roberts who I assumed followed him.. if your father was the reverand at Gilgal then i'm sure I must have met him because I had to attend chapel 3 times every Sunday, much to my consternation if I'm honest . Still it didn't do me any harm in the long term.. I don't know if you have seen Gilgal recently, it has been razed to the ground..
I return to the village about once a month and recently got to thinking about growing up in the 50's and 60's. It was a good place to grow up though we didn't have much. I was also thinking of some of the characters such as Mrs Jones the postmistress, Mrs Hughes Ty Capel, Albert Roberts who spent most of if not all of his life on crutches, to name but a few..
It has crossed my mind that maybe I should put pen to paper and record what life was like growing up there. For example, I remember going around the farms clapping for eggs around this time of the year. I believe that it was a custom unique to Anglesey.
Much has changed there now.
