My Soldier

Bolberry Down, brings back such lovely memories to me of the days of National Service. My boyfriend and I spent some of his leave sitting there and dreaming of his demob. We would go there and do a lot of walking, the cliffs are so high that now when I go back its quite frightening. I remember when a man drove his car right over the cliff. In 1956 I married my soldier and had 50 years of happy marriage. I have a photo of him sitting on the cliff that I keep on my bedside table.

RE: RE: My Soldier

Denise, you made my day when you said you also remember Bolberry. We used to walk down to Sewer Mill Cove, at that time in the 1950s I lived in Hope Cove, do you know that village? What a wonderfull site the Francis Frith website is.

RE: RE: my Soldier

Ah that's lovely, I had a tear in my eye as it brings back a lot of childhood memories from me of another special person, My Dad!! We had lots of lovely walks up there. We went to Bolberry farm to stay for our holidays for quite a few years with my parents, lots of aunts and uncles and cousins, they were such happy family holidays.
