The tall chimneys pictured here remind us of Bollington's industrial history. There were once thirteen cotton mills here, and the town was linked by both canal and rail to other industrial centres all around. The last of the cotton mills, the Adelphi, was closed in 1974, although by that time it was being used for the processing of artificial fibres rather than cotton.
