'A thriving village with some collieries and extensive cotton factories' was how Bollington was described in 1848. Those factories were especially renowned for the quality of their Liberty cottons. Recent road schemes have meant that the mill-workers' cottages on the right have been demolished to make way for a new roundabout, with a modern block of flats instead.
