The steamer 'Swift', launched in 1900 as the then largest boat on the lake, sits at the end of the pier, whilst a cluster of yachts, possibly racing, passes between the boat station and Belle Isle. Part of the pier building is occupied by the Central Café, with a display of postcards on the front wall.

My dad Harry Moore, known as Sarge would ride his motorbike in all weathers to get to work ,which was at Ferryhouse, to get there he would go and return on the ferry. I would go with him sometimes at the weekend if there was any problems for him to fix.
