Memories of Bracknell
Memories fade, but I walked down here often and think that on one of these corners was the delightful "Kiddies Korner". Board games stacked high, Action Man and associated bits, Corgi cars, Major Matt Mason Mattell's Man in Space (fantastic allitteration!). Bliss it was to be alive in that time, but to be young, was very heaven!
One of the old houses - 'Gainsborough' was used as a doctors surgery in early 60's . the name lives on today with the Gainsborough doctors practice in Whitegrove Copse! Hi Susan , I always thought that Joe Smith was the bookie that done the train trip to the sea side each year , got a packed lunch , and a coin as you said , My wife worked at Thompkins the Bakery , there sun Dave , married Jenny Plumber , they had one other son , Fish and chip shop in Station Road you went up some stairs ...Read full memory
From the newsagents (I believe the name was Crisps, maybe) I delivered morning newspapers on my little scooter - ha!ha! And I saved enough money to buy my first bike at 11. Needed it to get to secondary school.
