Taken at the western end of the village, this photograph shows the Jolly Farmer pub on the right. It was formerly known as the Wheatsheaf. There is, of course, another Wheatsheaf further along the road; it had once been a pair of cottages, but they were converted to a beer house in the 1880s.

My uncle, Tom Gordon, was the owner of the hotel from the 1950s to his death in 1966. I visited several times over those years, the first time in about 1953. For me it was a magical place with magnificent grounds to explore and many places of interest round about. My Grandmother lived there for a few years too. I was borne in 1956 in a house on Broadlea Grove Bramley and lived there until I got married in 1975 had really happy times and Iv lots of happy memories playing on the streets or in Bramley Fallwoods and at the canal I still live in Bramley but on the Swinnow
