Family Drinks
I used to live near this lovely pub which had a gorgeous garden. I was only a little girl when I used to come here with my Grandad and he had his whisky while I had my orangeade and a packet of Smith's crisps with the little blue salt bag inside where we sat in the garden. There was a pond in the garden, I used to watch the fish and there were also ducks. This was a favourite pub of my Dad who was a regular every Sunday lunch with a neighbour and friend. Quite a lot we would come to the Black Horse as a family and sit in that lovely garden. Dad with his pint, Mum with her Babycham with a cherry and me with my orangeade and crisps. This pub has many happy memories for me. It was quite a few years we used to come here, from the mid 1950's until 1966 when we moved away. I have always missed this pub, so it was great to see it as I remember on this website.

RE: RE: Family Drinks
My family have lived down Hatch Road, Pilgrims Hatch since 1962, and I went to school at Doddinghurst Road Secondary School (later Hedley Walter Comprehensive). The Black Horse pub is very near to where the family still live in Hhatch RTad. I went to school with the daughter named Jenny of the family that ran the pub. I can remember the lovley feeling that was around the pub, everybody was friendly. At the top of our road was the Rose and Crown pub, which is still there, they did great food!

I used to live in Catherine Close right near Hatch Road. You went to the same school as I did in Doddinghurst Road. I left there in 1966 to go to Australia.
I also remember the family who ran the Black Horse. But I thought the daughter's name was Penny, not Jenny (unless it's her sister). I went to Bentley school with Penny. Her surname is Fox. I heard that later the pub was run by Penny later on as it was passed on. I hope the pub is still in with the Fox family, they were all nice and friendly.
I also remember the Rose and Crown pub too. I would love to visit these two pubs again. They have great memories of the 60's for me.
