Henry Hill Hickman was born here and is buried in the church. By the age of 21 he was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. He was a pioneer in the science of anaesthetics, but although he tried to publicise his work, no-one then was interested. He died in 1830 aged only 30.

Bromfield is and always will be my home. I grew up there from 1964, went to Bromfield Primary school from 1969 and my parents still live there. I cant think of a better place to have grown up Roger Tomkins
I used to live up the Station Road, No. 3 Broome Close, about 150yds past the post office on the left. Lord Plymouth estates built 2 new houses in the early 60's, we moved from the stable flats in Oakley Park and Mr & Mrs Price moved into No. 4; he was the estate's carpenter.
