My sister Patricia Ann Moroney (Patsy)1929-2017 and my brother Michael John Moroney (1932-2019) were evacuated from Blackfen to Brook. I believe the family's name was Triscott. I have photos taken in the garden with the daughter, Rosemary, and uncle. Our cousin, Betty (Elizabeth Grubb), was evacuated to Smeeth. Does anybody have any information or photos?
I lived at no.3 Naccolt cottages 1940/45 and walked every day to Brook school and remember well the Ms Avery and Cooling , these were the best years of my childhood -- and learnt a lot too ! I have visited a few times since and really not much has changed apart from a few more houses on the old brickyard site --- many happy days spent in the "clayhole" -- memories of the Americans camped on the racecourse in Wye -- uncle ...see more
I and my two brothers grew up in Brook during the late 1940's, the 50's & 60's; our house was more or less behind the telegraph pole to the right of the picture. Mr Pembury ran the Post Office and Stores (thats his van outside). My earliest memories must have been around 1958 when I started school at Brook CP school at the top of Spelders Hill. There were two teachers; Miss Archer and Miss Cooling. My family lived in Natslane in a bungalow designed by my father. My maiden name was Elliott.
