RE: MUM'S HOME VILLAGE
Hi Kathleen, I have just read your letter regarding your mum's life in Cam, and I thought it was very interesting, as I live in Dursley and have been here for 19 years now. I do hope you get some feed back, and if there is anything I can help you with at this end please ask, yours faithfully, Neil.

RE: MUMS HOME VILLAGE
Hi Kathleen, I too have read your letter about your mum's life in Cam, and also found it very interesting. We have had several visits there. My husband's mother was especially pleased to visit there with us before she died. She had always wanted to see where her ancestors came from.
We visited the church, St. George's in Cam and also saw what used to be the Vicarage adjacent to the St. George's. We have in our possession old postcards of both these buildings too.
We have drawn a blank at the moment when researching our family tree, but we can go back to my husband's great x 3 grandfather, as we have a copy of his daughter's marriage certificate. Any information about Cam we would find very interesting. Thank you. Pauline.

RE: MUMS HOME VILLAGE
Hi Kathleen. Further to my previous comment - we have in our possession an old postcard of the Manor House, Cam, Gloucestershire, on which an ancestor of ours has written. He states that an ancestor of his/ours, a John Clement, lived at the Manor House. He also mentions that it was sold to a Mr. Smith, but that when they visited the Manor House it was in a very dilapitated state. We understand that it was burnt down in the year 1976. We have found out that it was owned by the Phillimore family over the years and that it was left to a servant in the early 1800's.
Any information or recollections of the Manor House, also known as 'The Vennings', would be very welcome.
Do hope you too have some feed back soon too.
Regards
Pauline

Hi Kathleen. Just one more comment. We also understand that an ancestor of ours of the same family, a John Clement Davis, came from Cam. He is the father of my husband's grandmother x 2, a Mary Grace Davis. Sorry to bother you with this, but would very much appreciate any recollections your mother may have.
Sorry also for my previous message appearing twice - my fault I fear, as I didn't realize the message had been sent!!
I agree with you Cam is a lovely village.
Regards
Pauline

RE: MUMS HOME VILLAGE
Hi,
I am currently researching my family tree and think we may have a link. My surname is Smith and my family are still living and around Cam! I have heard many stories of some of my ancestors moving to the USA around the time you have said. My great grandfathers name was Cyril Smith. Any information you could provide would be great!
Many Thanks,
Jess
