Early Days At Challaborough
A Memory of Challaborough.
My grandparents (named Holder) owned the Delphine before it became a cafe.
The told me in the very early days the only access was by horse & cart from Ringmore. I think that they made good use of the horse & cart to get to the Journeys End pub.
They later owned one of the three garages shown in your photo.
I recall holidays there in the late 40's and 50's. My parents used to boil up shrimps and lobsters caught in the "horse pool".
I also always remember the salvaged sand covered soap picked up on the beach.
I was back in the UK a few years ago and was sad to see that everything had been demolished..
