My husband and his family came from Cheriton and surrounding districts. He attended this school from age 5yrs through to school leaving, for a short trial apprenticeship with the local butcher. His mother and father were keen, of course, especially as in those days the apprentices received 'bonus' in the form of a selection on Saturday mornings.
