RE: RE: Growing up in Chis
Just found this website, what a nice surprise to see the old photos of Chiseldon and a letter from an old pal, Dawn Downey. I lived in the old cottage next to the foundry and next to the old school. My dad was Aurthur Markham, who had a couple of buses (until one had a very bad crash) but he kept the other bus running and arranged seaside tours or trips to take the soldiers home "up north" for their weekend leave. Also did lots of "Mystery Tours"on summer evenings. They almost always ended up at some pub, so everyone was merry when they arrived back in Chiseldon! My husband and I were married at Chiseldon Church (50 years ago), had three children and left England almost 40 years ago, we now live in Texas, USA. My sister was Josie, she was a live-wire and lots of fun. Like Dawn (even though I was younger) we all had a great time around the village. Dawn has a sister Stacy, who lives in Texas also. We enjoyed all meeting up a few years back. Stacy and I went to the Burdrop School together, I guess that would be around 1957. Hope to hear from someone I once knew.
