Ganaway Farm in Claverdon

Claverdon Hall c1960
Enlarge photo |  More about this photo

My grandfather, William Harwood, leased the "Ganaway Farm" from a Lady Trevelyan in the early 1900's. It is my understanding that the Ganaway Farm was part of or very near the Claverdon Park Farm. I haven't been able to locate any information about the Ganaway Farm, other than what has been written by my English forbearswho have long since passed away. Does anyone have any information about where this farm might have been located, and if it was indeed part of the Claverdon Park Farm Estate? I am making a trip to England and would love to visit the area where my grandfather and grandmother lived. Thanks in advance for any help!

RE: RE: Ganaway Farm in Claverdon

Hi Estella,
I've been researching my Grandfather's side of my family tree for a while now, and have been weeks trying to get in touch with somebody in the US who I may be distantly related to. I believe I may have, at last, found somebody - you!
From what I can work out, your father - Joseph John Harwood, and my Grandfather - Matthew Coyle, were cousins. Joseph's mother, Emelyn had a sister called Margaret, who was my grandfather's mother. We know nothing of her life, so I decided to try and trace her family tree, and have been fascinated by the size of the family in the US, that my grandfather almost certainly knew nothing about!
I would love to share the information I have with you, and hopefully gain some new information from you, if you would like.
My name is Diane Ní Annracháin and I live in Dublin, Ireland, which is where Margaret lived and died in the 1960s.
I believe you're heading to England to look for Claverdon House, so I wish you luck with that!
Thanks for reading my message!
Diane :)
