Norfolk memories

Strumpshaw Country Music Festival

My memory of Strumpshaw is being at the Country Music Festival 1993 at the age of 13. I spent a long weekend camping there with an old friend's family, and the most memorable moment was without a doubt Raymond Froggatt's performance. He had everyone so emotional - I can honestly say 17 years later I've never felt an atmosphere like that since!

Red House Inn, Cantley

Heresay says my boat was built in the 1880s for the then-owner of the Red House at Cantley, and was called "Lama" or possibly "Llama". Does anyone have any information on owners/landlords, or boating pictures of that period?

Thanks

Red House Inn

What a beautiful memories... what beautiful times. Times still in my brain. If anybody knows anything about Jimmy, Scott, Grand mum, or that fantastic girl who loves Viviane Westwood, please contact me on oscarbrull@gmail.com. Please.

Happy Memories in Brundall

Imagine my surprise while sitting here in U.S.A. looking at pictures of the village Brundall, the village that I was born in. I saw a picture of my dad, Sidney A. Brigham, launching a sail boat at Brooms Boat Yard.  The year of the picture, number 11, is 1955.  He had worked at Brooms since he was about 15 and worked until age 65.  As a family, we spent many happy holidays on the river.  It was lovely seeing all the photographs - they brought back many wonderful memories.

Sincerely - Peggy

Brundall

Peggy from the USA, who sent a memory of Brundall, is my cousin. Arthur Henry Brigham was my grandfather, and he was the Signalman at Brundall railway station. I knew Sydney (her father) very well, and also spent many happy days at Brooms boatyard. Get in touch Peggy - it's your long lost cousin calling!!!

My Grandad

My grandad was a hairdresser in Hardley, he cut hair at his home. His name was Nicholls, anyone out there remember him?!

Poringland in WW2

I was born in London, but because of the war my mother wanted to live somewhere less dangerous. Because my father was in the army in Poringland, we moved to Norfolk, and eventually stayed in Poringland for a while. I lived in a row of houses on the village green and I think I recall a pump on the green nearly opposite where we lived. At the time I was 6years old. I went to the village school and also went to Notre Dame in Norwich, which was convenient for my mother as she worked in the food office. All I can remember of the neighbours was that there was a family called Dix (not sure of spelling) and the daughter, Molly had a glass eye, a result of her brother waving his fork around. I have visited Norfolk twice fairly recently. In circa 1994 I found the village green minus the pump. I went again about 4 years ago and could not... Read more
