Clayton le Moors
Hi, does anyone have any information on a grocer's shop or a draper's shop which was situated at numbers 2, 4 and 6 Sparth Road? I've recently discovered that my great-great-great-grandparents owned these properties, any info would be appreciated, thanks. Jackie

I remember the shop, in the 1950s we used to call it 'Bet's Cafe', it was a general grocers shop at the junction of Sparth Road and Barnes Street. Opposite was a Co-op general store and on its westerly side across Barnes Street was the Park View cafe close to the Mercer Park gates. Also at the junction was a pub and a gents' barber shop, a Co-op butcher, a chip-shop and a sweet shop...

Does anyone remember the Kenyons who lived many years ago in Clayton le Moors?
