American Comics.
I believe that this photo has been snapped from what used to be the original bus station in Corby New Town. I have childhood memories of getting off the 32 bus and running into the market from the station. I always had urgent business in those days that demanded maximum haste such as getting to Woolworths to buy an Airfix model. The market was always busy. I remember one stall that sold American comic books. They were always popular with us kids. For sixpence you could buy the latest Bat Man or Spider Man edition. The stories were great but best of all was the sheer Americanism of the comics. Zip codes and priced in cents.

RE: RE: American Comics.
I remember this scene well. I was born in 1957 and lived in Corby till 1979, except for time at College in Northampton. Like Kenneth Little, I also loved the comic stall he speaks of. I remember it being at the far corner from the one in the foreground, and it moved now and again to keep me guessing!
Don't think this was taken from the original bus station. The van at bottom left would have driven through the gap between the bus station and the shops. My Mum used to work in the kiosk at that corner of the bus station, owned by Mr Nunn who also had the newsagents. I think the photo was taken from the flats above the shops, my guess is probably from above Alexander's Toy Shop, which I was a regular visitor to, as well as Arnold's.
Great memories!
Regards from Canada's prairies.
