Anyone else connect to this photo?

I was born in Kelvin Grove which is the road coming out on the left of this picture.  My grandparents lived on the corner of Kelvin Grove & Rockingham Road, their names were Andrew and Elsie Robertson.  My grandfather was known as Mr Coke Ovens because of the years he worked at Stewart & Lloyds.  I remember shopping with my grandmother on this street, going to the Odeon cinema and having the best ice cream at Tipaldis.  I would love to hear from anyone else who can relate to my family or my childhood.  I attended Wood Newton Way Infants School, and two friends who lived near me in Willow Brook Road were Linton Proctor and Raymond Shillitoe.

RE: Anyone else connect to this photo?

I remember this parade of shops really well as it lay at the end of Stephenson Way where my grandparents lived. My grandad also worked in the steel works for many years until he died. His name was Charlie Watson. I can remember my nan walking my sister and I to the shops and on the way we would go to Murdoch's sweet shop next to the Odeon and if we were lucky we would go to Tipaldi's for an ice cream soda. The Odeon was a favourite haunt on Saturday mornings, at the cinema club for children...happy memories! I was born in Ashley Avenue and also attended Woodnewton Way Infants and Junior Schools before we moved to Bournemouth in 1964. No doubt you will remember the Glebe which was opposite the shops.
