Walsh Manor

I was a pupil at Walsh Manor school about 1964 and was wondering if anyone has any pictures of the school or the history of the manor house. I loved being at the school as there was a farm attached where we used to go. The school itself was a lovely place to live and when I was there it was run by Mr and Mrs Hemmings. It was a girls boarding school. One teacher I remember was Mr Rose who took us for art or French. We had a lot of freedom and were allowed to go to the town on our own at the weekend. Sadly the school was closed down by the home office and turned into a boys school and now belongs to the Church of Scientology.
After I left I had to go to a restricted life at Uckfield convent. The nuns were strict but kind. If anyone has any memories I would love to hear from you.  V Manning

RE: RE: Walsh Manor

i was at walsh manor, the first boy to arrive when it was an all boys school. there was 21 boys there and about 6 teachers, the best teachers anyone could have had. mr laycock was head master and mrs laycock was matron. i`m 54 now so most of the staff would have died, mr stewart, mr arrow, mr west are the ones i remember, i would love to here from anyone that remembers me or the people that was there. when i was there we played football, golf, went canoeing, walking all over the downs and through the country lanes, rock climbing at toad rocks. the chef was brilliant good fun, so many happy memories. i've a lot to thank at walsh manor and the people and i have'nt met one person from those days. frank lacey

RE: RE: Walsh Manor

I was at school in Holme Park School, Rotherfield, East Sussex Was the Walsh Manor the same place? As it was also known as this as well. There was also a farm there,I think it was off the Mayfield Road, and the school was situated between Mayfield and Rotherfield. I was there in 1976 to 1985. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me.
