Dagenham County High School
Greetings across the waves! My wife and I live in Seattle, Washington USA. My name is Steve Harris and I went to DCHS as did my parents (Bert & Vera Harris) and sister Susan. I am looking for a number of my school chums from 'back when'.
I was the lead tenor in the choir at school. Most of the names listed below are related to the music department. My wife and I have been all over the internet trying to find old friends/chums. Hopefully, by the power of the great internet, someone will recognize at least of the names and let them know I would love to make contact. Here goes:
Alan/Allen "Chalky" White
Sheila (Armstrong) White
Rob Sheehan
Graham Stannard
Jon Turner
Gary Wolfstone or Gladstone
Meg Thoms (not sure of the married name)
I would also love to catch up with some of the teacher if they are still around. i remember one who taught Phys Ed and I believe his name was Mr. Coley. He was the man who married one of my classmates after we graduated.
Teachers I remember:
Frank Grainger
Peter Cook
Mr. Cook
"Spud" Davis
"Holmsworth"
Mrs. Cox
Mr. "Creepin' Jesus" Dakin
Thank you in advance for anyone who might be able to hook me up with my past!
Steve Harris

I was there in 1956 - 1960. I remember Mr Grainger well. He gave me the cane a few times! Mr Hawthorne done woodwork - we called him "Spike" There was the the R.I. teacher, Mr Daikin, who was known as "Creeping Jesus" but he was a lovely man. He won the BBC "Brain of Britain" competition I believe. There was Dave Munden, whi was the drummer of Brain Poole and the Tremeloes, who rivalled The Beatles for a few weeks. And then the great Dudley Moore, the comedian was there a couple of years earlier, but did grace us with a school concert.

I was at DCHS 1940-1945. Classmates I remember - Ivy Tindall, Vera Newman, Norman Roast, Pelley, Emily Long, Turner, French teacher Miss Peel, Geography Teacher Mr. Rees, Math, Mr. Kirk. and Head, Miss. Williams (old Bill) Music Teacher Miss. Beard. Wonder if any students of that time are up-to-date with their old school now?! Jean (Ryder) Berry.

I attended the school 1948 - 1951. Dudley Moore was there at that time. I can recall Mr Graiger who could administer the cane very well, also teachers - Mr Cook (Geography), Madame Chopin (French), Mrs Hodge (German), who was involved in a scandle with the art teacher. I left to start an apprenticeship at Samuel Wlliams and then joined the merchant navy, rising to chief engineer, and settled in Melbourne, Australia in 1964. I now have 4 grandchildren and am semi retired! I would love to hear from anyone who may remember me - I was mates with Bob Sargeant /Colin Macdougle/Pat Terry/Pat Gutteridge.

I attended DCHS from 1956 until 1961. My classmates were Raymond 'Boz' Barwick, Michael Beauchamp, Robin Pilgrim, 'Herby' Russell, Graham Merton and Billy Whitehouse. I have traced Mick and Robin but would dearly like to know what happened to the others. As Mr Ranzetta would say: "Tempus fugit et nunquam revertitur".

I went to DCHS from 1966-1971 and have kept in touch with Gill Illman, Iris Baldry, Sue Jenkins and Tom Saunders. Have traced some others through friends reunited as well - check it out - there are some good photos on there too.
