I attended Eastbrook from 1959 to 1964, after Richard Alibon Juniors, Dickie Davis was my first form teacher and my memory of him is he always carried a cane, he was one of the few teachers that would give you the stick himself rather than send you to the headmaster, Mr. Curry?? Dickies catch phrase, which he would say whilst shaking his cane and looking up to the ceiling was 'Sit up and shut up'. The religious ...see more
Hi all. My name is Howard Matthams, son of Brian Matthams who lived at 165 Hardie Road Dagenham. He lived there with his sister Brenda May Matthams. Father was Ken Matthams. My dad was born in the late 30's. Brenda lived in the same house till about 2000 when she sadly died. I'm very keen to hear from people who knew my family. Hi, born in 1941 and lived at 5 Downing Road. I attended Arnol Road School, then Gorsbrooke, would love to hear from old friends' Chris Case, Teddy Martin, Alf Cornell to name a few. Cannot remember to much. Mum and dad both worked at Fords. Headmaster at Arnld Road was Mr Benfeild. Dagenham was a great place to live/grow up in. This is an extract from a story I wrote after taking some Dutch students to France in 1992 it includes youthful memories especially of Eastbrook School and it's staff. July 1962 (or there about).
