Great Memories.1950s.
Hi. I was born in Urmston, the usual place, the cottage hospital, in 1944. I lived in Davyhulme until about 1963. I lived in Pangbourne Avenue which is off Abingdon Road. In the Davyhulme, Lostock Road pic it shows my uncle's van, who owned the greengrocer's,(Ogdens) which as I remember was next door to the record shop, whose name I forget. But I have bought many a 78rpm from there. I attended St Mary's, Cornhil Road, then Flixton Road School when it was half n half boys n girls, then on to Welacre Secondary modern till I left in 1959. Davyhulme & Urmston hold some cherrished memories for me.

The Good Old Days
When I was a kid it never went dark when it did I saw a tomato man in Davyhulme Park.
One of my memories
Real Ice Cream!
Grimwoods was the best ice cream in the world. It was smooth and coloured cream - delicious! They had a shop on the circle and peddled their ice cream from a Bedford van around the Davyhulme area. The shop was on the right of the detached property in picture D104001.
Camping
Me and my friends camped on the circle for a dare untill the police moved us in the early hours. Date was about 1980.
Nags Head
A view from my local pub, the buffett room, used as a bar in the 80s when the pub was being done up.
